Typefaces Urbana
Urbana is a contemporary sans-serif typeface inspired in the traditional lettering seen in one of the most popular, massive transportation mediums available in Bogotá (Colombia): “busetas” (small city buses). A mixture of influences reminiscent of modernism, hand lettering, cluttered spaces and improvisation are the source of its characteristic forms. Urbana indends to save space both vertically and horizontally as well as to catch the reader’s attention in headlines and short text. It was released in August 2007. • See the design process in Typophile • Buy it at Myfonts.com • Urbana one of the favorite typefaces of 2007 at Typographica.org
Obliqua is a humanist sans serif typeface designed to learn the fundamentals of typeface design, given that the author started as being self-taught. It combines the proportions of humanist, foundational handwriting, with hard-sans-serif, industrial-looking features in order to achieve both legibility and personality for setting running text and titles. The family features a true italic specially designed to save space as well as to match the roman style. Lowercase numbers as well as small caps are available as Opentype features. It will be published by Monotype in 2009. • Obliqua design process in Typophile Bolívar
